The young Vulpix panted as she stopped in a clearing.

Her legs were shaking like crazy and her lungs felt like they were going to burst, she knew she need to stop and rest but she had no choice, she needed to run, otherwise her punishment wouldn't be pleasant.

"Moonstar!" boomed a voice in the distance.

The Vulpix gasped at the voice and began to run again, ignoring her body's cries.

Soon the fire type could run no more and, seeing a cave to her left, darted inside of it, not taking notice of the large footprints leading to it as well.

Cowering behind a rock she saw a Ninetales run past the cave and into the horizon until it vanished from her sight entirely.

Moonstar let out a sigh of relief as she collapsed on the ground, giving in to her exhaustion.

Of course, this relief didn't last long as a roar echoed from the back of the cave.

Next thing she knew, she was thrown into a wall by a powerful blast of water.

As she struggled to get to her feet she got a look at her assailant; a Feraligatr towered above her small, wet form...and it didn't look happy.

The water type unleashed another Hydro Pump attack at the helpless Vulpix before it and Moonstar barely managed to dodge, running as fast as she could out of the cave and hoping the crazed Jaw Pokemon didn't follow her.

As she found herself in the open again she looked back, the Feraligatr didn't follow her.

Or so she thought.

A torrent of water struck her again, this time sending her into a tree with a crack as something broke.

Unable to move Moonstar felt large claws tear through her fur, allowing blood to poor from her body at an alarming rate.

Her breaths were labored and getting weaker every second.

Moonstar's vision began to blur and eventually go black as her body fell still. She was dead.

As the Feraligatr retreated into it's cave another figure left the trees.

It was a deer Pokemon with a colorful and calm aura radiating off its body. Perched atop one of its horns a small, yellow bird Pokemon with glowing wings.

"We're too late, she's gone." The small bird said sadly, hanging its head.

"Perhaps not." The deer said approaching Moonstar's body. "Don't forget Lightingbird, I am the Life Pokemon for a reason."

"Xernaes you know Arceus forbids the use of resurrection!"

"It's not forbidden, its just something that shouldn't be abused. Besides, you know what this Vulpix is, your kind is few and far between Lightingbird, would you really sacrifice one of your own?"

Lightingbird was quiet for a moment before replying. "No, I wouldn't. Alright then, go ahead, but if Arceus says something about this I am staying out of it."

"Fair enough."

With those words the Xernaes lowered hiss head to Moonstar's body, touching it with his nose.

"Not many get a second chance to live child." He began as a light glowed around him and Moonstar, "This is my gift, accept it."

When the light faded Moonstar's chest began to rise and fall as she slept peacefully, her wounds gone.

"Alright Lightingbird, your turn, awaken her power."

The Hummingbird Pokemon fluttered down from Xernaes' antlers and touched her beak to the right side of Moonstar's face.

The spot where Lightingbird touched glowed light yellow for a moment and then, as soon as it started, it stopped. Lightingbird raised her head and looked at the Vulpix's face; engraved on her face was a peculiar insignia in the form of a moon and sun that faded moments later.

"We are done here, let us be off before we are spotted."

With a nod Lightingbird once again perched on Xernaes' antlers as the Life Pokemon entered the trees, both of them vanishing from sight.

Little did the duo know that Xernae's gift of life awoke something more in the young Vulpix, for when Moonstar evolved an unheard of phenomenon happened.

A Ninetales can curse someone who touches one of their tails for a thousand years if they so desire...but Moonstar, she did not have that curse...

She had the ability to bring back the dead.
Bit of Moonstar backstory :3

Originally I had it be Arceus that revives her but, since Xernaes is the LIFE Pokemon I felt it would be more fitting.

Also, though Lightingbird awoke Moonstar's powers as a Light Pokemon, she did not discover them right away and so her mark was hidden until that time.

And yes, Moonstar's ability to revive the dead is because she herself was brought back to life.
